meet Petrushka, who was born this morning;
Tradition states that the cows (or at least the breeding stock) are named with the same letter as the herd name, so our cows are called Rainbird, Rita and Raven, as they are originally from the Roskilly herd. We are the Powderhouse herd, so all our breeding cows names will start with P.
We only keep the pedigree Dexter cows to breed from, so last years calves which were Angus cross deter, and any boys will unfortunately be destined for the chop(and to be turned into delicious, free range beef).
we still have one more cow ready to calf, and one that did not get pregnant first time around, and who has been served again, so watch this space!
